"To take a photograph is to participate in another person’s (or thing’s) mortality, vulnerability, mutability…"
Susan Sontag
In 2019 Alex Bronfer ran into an old acquaintance, her egg-shaped head bald following chemotherapy. Without inquiring details, he immediately asked: May I take your picture?
That turned a friendship into a photo project.. For more than two years he has continued to turn his sensitive lens toward the woman, while her life has been interchanging between children, grandchildren, work, periods with more chemotherapy, and periods without. Alex Bronfer has been capturing images of her life, her home, her family, and her surroundings reflecting the words of Susan Sontag.
